Bone Broth Hot Chocolate
Serves 2-3
Ingredients:
3 cups of milk of choice
1.5 cup bone broth (beef or chicken)
3 TBSP Maple syrup
⅓ cup cocoa powder
2-3 drops of peppermint extract (optional)
Crack of sea salt to taste (optional)
Mini marshmallows as optional topping
Directions:
Add milk, bone broth, maple syrup, cocoa powder, and peppermint extract to a pot over
medium heat and gently stir to incorporate until it reaches a slow boil
Once boiling, add a crack of sea salt and remove from heat
Pour and top with marshmallows
Why I love bone broth!
1 serving of bone broth 10g of protein and in my opinion, the broth itself takes on any flavor you
add to it. This almost savory hot chocolate offers a robust, rich flavor but still provides the light
sweetness I want from a cozy winter drink.
Bone broth contains many vitamins and minerals that our body can use to support our health,
including collagen, a protein that can promote glowing skin, elasticity, fight inflammation, and
joint health (Cleveland Clinic). Bone broth also contains gelatin which research has shown may
reduce intestinal inflammation and maintain the intestinal wall, promoting healthy digestion and
gut health (Mcdonnell, 2023). Protein as a whole also has immense immune boosting properties
that we can all benefit from in these colder months when the cold and flu are spreading rapidly.
