Safe Exercises During Pregnancy
Many pregnant women have a great question about whether exercising during pregnancy is okay. In short, the answer is “Yes.” It is always safe to consult your doctor before starting a new exercise routine or just starting exercise for the first time while you are pregnant.
What are the benefits of exercising during pregnancy?
Exercising during pregnancy helps reduce backache, constipation, bloating, and swelling, all of which can help you get better sleep. It also helps alleviate stress, mood swings, and anxiety and improves mental health. Strengthening exercises help improve muscle tone and strengthen the core and hip muscles, which you especially need during delivery.
Here, I have recommended several types of exercises that you can do while you are pregnant.
Walking
Walking is possible anywhere, including walking in a mall, park, during the lunch break, or on the treadmill. Walking helps you to improve your heart rate. It is important to use supportive walking shoes to overcome injuries.
Swimming
Water can create a buoyancy effect on the body and relieves any added weight, strain, and pressure. Also, it improves cardiovascular endurance and strengthens leg, arm, and core muscles.
Squats
Squats help open up the hips and keep them strong, especially with weight increases during pregnancy.
Bicep Curls and Triceps Extensions
It is important to strengthen arm muscles, as this will be needed to carry babies and car seats.
There are safe ways for you to engage in these types of exercises. Because comfort is essential, start at a slow rate and continue until you find your comfort zone. Always follow proper safety guidelines and instructions for safety.
